10:19 am on 22 December 2012

South Africa humiliated the touring Black Caps with an eight-wicket victory in the first of three Twenty20 Internationals on Friday.

The hosts dismissed the Black Caps for just 86 in the 19th over, New Zealand's third-lowest ever score in the format.

Six of New Zealand's top seven batsmen were dismissed for single figure scores.

Only three players reached double figures for New Zealand, the highest score of 23 from Colin Munro - one of four debutants.

New captain Brendon McCullum fell for just six and admits the team has to improve fast or the series will be over within three days.

The second game is in East London on Sunday and the third in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
