Christchurch diners more mellow, but mingling less

Christchurch City Mission says the 600+ people who attended a free Christmas meal seemed more relaxed this year.

City Missioner Michael Gorman said roughly the same number of people go every year, but this time around people were more mellow.

He said the earthquakes have settled more in the past year, which probably helps.

But Mr Gorman said there was a different vibe this time, with a lot of families sticking together and not mingling with strangers.
