Woman killed in Christmas Day crash named

The name of a woman who died in a two-car collision at a busy Hamilton intersection on Christmas Day has been released.

Rongmei Wang, a 71-year-old Chinese national, was a back seat passenger in a car involved in a collision with a Toyota Hilux on the corner of Te Rapa Road and Avalon Drive at about 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Police say they have found the driver of the Toyota, who they allege fled the scene.

The police Serious Crash Unit is investigating and it will be some time before it is determined what, if any, charges will be laid.
