Jockeys will wear black arm bands during race seven at race meetings on New Year's Day in honour of a colleague who died after a fall at Kurow on Sunday.
Ashlee Mundy, 26, was critically injured during race seven when her horse clipped a heel of the horse in front and fell as she approached the 600 metre mark.
She was taken by helicopter to Dunedin hospital where she died on Monday morning.
A minutes' silence is being observed at all events on Tuesday.
The accident is being investigated.
