Two trampers reported missing near Twizel on Friday have been found safe and well in the South Temple Basin.
Police sent a helicopter just before 2pm to look for the 40-year-old man and 37-year-old woman.
The trampers, who were two days overdue, were spotted walking along a clearing and picked up by helicopter and taken back to their car.
A police spokesperson says they had been waiting out the bad weather, which caused two streams to flood severely.
