Police seek inquest on Bayfield Park death

2:32 pm on 7 January 2013

A man who died at a Dunedin city park on Monday may have been there for more than a day before his death.

Police say an ambulance was sent to Bayfield Park after a maintenance crew reported finding the 62 year old man.

They say he died while the ambulance was attending.

Police say a member of the public reported seeing the man in the park on Sunday morning, so it appears he had been there for at least 24 hours.

They say there are no suggestions of foul play or self-harm but the man's case has been referred to the coroner because his cause of death is not clear.
