A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a quad bike accident which left him stuck in a ditch for 17 hours.
The farmer was found on Tuesday morning near Matamata and flown to Waikato Hospital.
Helicopter pilot Todd Dunham said the man had got off his quad bike to open a gate on Monday night and the bike rolled forward and knocked him into a ditch.
He managed to climb out, but fell down another bank where another farmer found him next day.
The man has serious abdominal and pelvic injuries.
Seven people died in quad bike accidents in 2012.
