Two men have been arrested after $154,000 worth of drugs stayed hidden at Auckland International Airport for almost four years.

Police found 200 grams of methamphetamine at the airport in November 2012.

Customs say the drugs were found in a Customs-controlled area, but will not disclose how they were concealed.

A spokesperson said on Thursday the men were questioned at Auckland International Airport in February 2009, but there was not enough evidence to detain them.

Customs said it cannot comment further because the matter is before the court.

Police said they tracked the pair for several months and arrested them last week when they linked them to the package of drugs.

The men, aged 54 and 36, will appear in the Wellington District Court next week.
