A scrub fire in a rural area south east of Auckland has caused a landslip, closing the road through the Hunua Gorge.
The Fire Service said the blaze broke out on a slope above Hunua Road at about 5.15am on Friday.
Eight fire trucks and 32 fire fighters were sent to the scene. The fire is being treated as suspicious.
Auckland Transport says a geotechnical expert is checking the slope above the road for unstable rocks.
