He was Mohammed Khan, from Auckland.
His cousin, aged 14, was injured in the same incident and is now in a stable condition after surgery.
The boys were in Nadi visiting a house the family is building when the shooting occurred.
Police have been interviewing the gun owner and a 10-year-old boy following the shooting and say their inquiries are continuing.
