Royal appointment for standout Kiwis in UK

Past and present winners and nominees of the annual UK New Zealander of the Year award have a royal appointment in London on Wednesday.

A selection of winners and nominees of the award, which has been presented since 1999, are to meet Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House.

Past finalists and winners of the award include NZ war memorial architect Jonathan Rennie, golfer Michael Campbell and restaurateurs Susan and Tom Glynn.

Also among the guests are chef Peter Gordon and Olympic equestrian Mark Todd.

AAP reports recipients and nominees of the Australian of Year in the UK awards will also attend the event.

They will include Barry Humphries, Clive James and London bombing victim Gill Hicks. Young Australian of Year, Rhodes scholar Rebecca Richards will be accompanied by a past winner of the same award, fashionista Yasmin Sewell.
