Mansfield brooch to be returned to her home

12:04 pm on 6 February 2013

A piece of Katherine Mansfield's jewellery collection is being returned to the Wellington home where she was born.

The charity organisation that maintains the house in Thorndon, the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace Society, will receive a mother-of-pearl brooch the author owned until she died.

It was gifted to a friend in Mansfield's will, before eventually ending up with a Mansfield biographer.

The brooch will be handed over to the society on Thursday afternoon.

An exhibition showing the brooch and other memorabilia will be held to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Mansfield's birth later this year.
