Police in Invercargill have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of a woman's body on Saturday.
The 38-year-old was found in her room at a hostel in Tyne Street at about 10am.
A 30-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the death.
Police believe the two knew each other.
