Currie and Hart win one-day Coast to Coast

Sophie Hart has won the the women's one-day Coast to Coast while Braden Currie is the men's one day champion.

After finishing third last year, Currie arrived at Sumner Beach in Christchurch soon after 5pm on Saturday in a time of 11 hours and six minutes.

Five-time champion Richard Ussher finished second six minutes behind Currie.

Sophie Hart crossed the line in a time of 12 hours and 36 minutes, 35 minutes ahead Elina Ussher in second place.

The one-day event, also known as the longest day, involved competitors leaving Kumara Beach on the West Coast on Saturday morning and traversing the Southern Alps before finishing at Sumner.

The two-day men's race, which began on Friday, was won by Seamus Meikle from Greymouth.

The two-day women's winner was Jess Simson.
