The family of a Christchurch man killed in a domestic incident at the weekend say they are standing by his alleged killer.

Lucille Scollay, 44, is accused of killing her 48-year-old husband Guy Scollay at an Edgeware Rd house in the early hours of Sunday.

Police have issued a statement on behalf of the couple's families saying they are united in supporting Mrs Scollay and the couple's son.

Mrs Scollay made a brief appearance in the Christchurch District Court on Monday morning and was remanded in custody for two weeks without entering a plea.

Police say the killing was family-violence-related and say they have found a weapon but will not disclose what it is.

The court was packed with family members for Mrs Scollay's appearance.
