An Auckland teenager has been charged with manslaughter over the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old.
Shaun Townsley was shot dead in January this year while he and a group of friends were drinking and shooting at cans with an air rifle at his home in Manurewa.
A post-mortem found that he had been shot through the heart.
Police have said the shooting appears to be accidental, but after a forensic investigation have now charged an 18-year-old man with manslaughter.
The investigation included tests to determine how much alcohol Mr Townsley and the other man had been drinking.
The man will appear in the Manukau District Court on Friday.
