Two people have been charged following the discovery of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of drugs at an apartment block in Mount Maunganui.

Police found 350 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine in two sealed bags inside a storage unit, along with $15,000 of cash during an investigation in January this year.

They say the cocaine has a street value of between $260,000 and $1 million, while the methamphetamine is worth more than $200,000.

Police say a 50-year-old man and his son aged 21, both sickness beneficiaries, will appear in the Tauranga District Court on Friday.

The pair face drug charges, including importing cocaine, and possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for supply.

Police say more arrests are likely.
