A man police allege attacked a Christchurch shop worker with a piece of wood during a robbery has been arrested.
Police say the 19-year-old entered an Ilam dairy on Thursday night and demanded cash before hitting the shop worker with the head and shoulder with a piece of wood.
He left empty handed, but the incident was caught on security camera.
The man was due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday on charges of assault with intent to rob.
