Auckland Council and Sport New Zealand are to fund an international competition for Olympic shotput champion Valerie Adams.
Adams will compete against her international rivals at The Cloud on 2 March.
Sport Minister Murray McCully said Sport New Zealand will provide $80,000 for the event and Auckland Council will provide $30,000.
Adams said she is excited to be competing in front of her home crowd and hopes people will come and give shotputting a go.
