A prominent Kaitaia businesman has again been denied bail on charges of child sexual abuse.

Daniel Taylor, 33, appeared in the Kaitaia District Court on Wednesday to make a third bail application.

The former Child, Youth and Family caregiver and Mormon elder has yet to enter a plea to 22 charges of sexual offending against boys.

He has made two previous unsuccessful bail applications, and on Wednesday was remanded in custody until 14 March.

Mr Taylor is one of three Far North men charged in recent months with sex crimes.

School teacher James Parker has admitted multiple counts of offending against boys and is due in court on 13 March.

Kaitaia pastor Eric Reid is serving a nine-month home detention sentence for secretly filming women.
