A person has died in a single car crash south of Taupo.
Police say the person died at the scene late on Wednesday night and no further details of will be released at this time.
An investigaiton has been launched into the cause of the crash.
State Highway 1 was reduced to one lane from 2km south of Hatepe on Wednesday night.
