Television New Zealand has decided against screening a documentary about convicted double murderer Graeme Burton, following concerns it may jeopardise his right to a fair trial.
Burton is serving a life sentence with a minimum non-parole period of 26 years at Auckland Prison for killing Lower Hutt man Karl Kuchenbecker.
He is facing an attempted murder charge after an attack on a fellow inmate, who was seriously injured with a makeshift weapon in December.
Burton's lawyer Peter Tomlinson was to lodge a High Court injunction on Monday to stop the programme going to air but TVNZ has since agreed not to screen it until after the latest matter is dealt with.
