Marlborough District Council says a scrub fire burning in the hills near Blenheim has been contained.
The seven-hectare fire broke out at 1am on Wednesday in the Sixteen Valley between Blenheim and Seddon.
Deputy rural fire officer John Foley said appliances from all over the region were called out.
He says the fire was located off the road on steep terrain, but was contained by 7.30am. The cause is being investigated.
