After a meeting with the insurers for the container ship Rena many iwi in Bay of Plenty still say the wreck should be removed from the reef where it grounded.
Insurer Swedish Club is proposing to leave the rest of the container ship on Astrolabe Reef where it ran aground on 5 October 2011.
Representatives of the insurer and owner Costamare outlined what they are proposing to do with the wreck at a meeting of Te Moana a Toi Leaders Forum at Whareroa Marae on Thursday.
After the meeting, Charlie Tawhiao from Ngai te Rangi said people at the forum were still set on the full removal of the wreck.
