Police in Eastern Bay of Plenty say the deaths of two premature babies are not suspicious.
The twins' bodies were discovered in the backyard of a Matamata property on Friday.
Police said that, as a result of post-mortem examinations, liaison with medical experts and interviews with a number of people, the matter has been referred to the Coroner.
They said the situation is sensitive and very distressing for the family.
