Police in Nelson have arrested a 24-year-old man following a series of crimes that started in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers were called to two suspicious fires within 30 minutes of each other. The first was at storage units in Stoke at 1am and the second at the Tender Centre in Nelson at 1.30am.
About four hours later, the police were called to suspicious activity at Nelson airport, where they arrested a local man.
The man has been charged with arson, burglary, intentional damage and unlawful interference with an aircraft.
He is in custody and due to appear in the Nelson District Court on Monday.
