Auckland's biggest real estate company, Barfoot and Thompson, says house sales in March were the highest in nearly two years.
The company sold more than 900 homes in March, up more than 65% on February, and up nearly 50% on March last year.
The average sale price dropped by more than 4% compared with February, and nearly 6% compared with March last year.
Managing director Peter Thompson says the Auckland housing market has emerged from its hibernation and is edging further back to normality.
