Police area appealing for help from the public to locate a man they say has a disturbingly violent criminal history.
Cameron Ashby was given a 10-year jail sentence in 2005 and is now on parole, but police say he has breached his parole conditions.
They say he has connections in Hamilton, Waihi, Paeroa and Karangahake Gorge.
Sergeant Robert Isaac says Ashby, who is Maori and about 180cm tall, has a history of carrying firearms and knives.
He says Ashby should not be approached and anyone who sees him should contact police immediately.
