The Sultan of Brunei was greeted at Government House on Tuesday afternoon, on the second day of his New Zealand visit.
A kapa haka group and a military guard of honour welcomed Hassanal Bolkiah on to the vice-regal lawn.
A haka was performed by 350 students from Wellington College for the Sultan and the Governor General, Lieutenant General Sir Jerry Mateparae.
The Sultan will also laid a wreath at the National War Memorial on Tuesday afternoon, before attending a state dinner in the evening.
His four-day visit also includes dinner with Prime Minister John Key, a meeting with Labour leader David Shearer and attending question time in Parliament.
