A New Zealander has broken his own world record for unassisted free-diving at the Vertical Blue event being held in the Bahamas.

William Trubridge descended to 88 metres and returned to the surface in a single breath, without the help of any weights or propulsive assistance.

He beat his own world record set last year of 86 metres.

The 28-year-old says he had been anxious about the dive but his intensive training paid off.
