No decision yet on inquest into farmer's death

The Palmerston North coroner is still considering whether to hold an inquest into the death of Feilding farmer Scott Guy in July 2010.

Mr Guy's brother-in-law, Ewen Macdonald, was last year acquitted of murdering him. Nobody else has been charged over the killing.

Almost a year after the trial verdict, a spokesperson for Coroner Carla na Nagara said discussions are underway with the police about the way forward.

She said it's hoped a decision might be reached within the next two months.

Macdonald is serving a sentence of five years in prison for other offences, including arson, vandalism and killing calves before Mr Guy's death. He is eligible for parole in December.
