A baby who suffered serious injuries at his home at Wairoa in northern Hawke's Bay last weekend has died in hospital.
The four-month-old boy died overnight on Friday at Starship Hospital in Auckland.
Wairoa Police are investigating the injuries and Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Greig says the boy's family is co-operating with the inquiry.
A post-mortem was being held in Auckland on Saturday, but results are not expected until early next week.
Child Youth and Family central regional director John Langley says the department is working with the police and the family.
