9:40 pm on 27 April 2009

A witness has described an incident in which a New Zealand Army officer is alleged to have inappropriately touched a female officer.

The officer is being tried at a court martial at Trentham Military Camp near Wellington. He faces seven charges against women also employed by the Army.

The officer has been granted interim name suppression.

It is alleged there were several incidents involving the man and three female officers during September last year.

The officer has made no plea to a charge of doing an act likely to prejudice service discipline.

On the other charges, including assault on a female and indecent assault on a female, he pleaded not guilty.

One charge of indecent assault incidents relates to allegations that he slapped a female officer under his command on the backside at a social function.
