A Tauranga man has pleaded guilty in the High Court in Rotorua to 72 counts of importing and possessing pseudoephedrine and possessing methamphetamine for supply.

Gary Read is also charged with the unlawful possession of a pistol and participating in an organised criminal group.

He was to go on trial in the High Court this week, but entered a guilty plea on Tuesday.

The Crown says the pseudoephedrine was sourced from Thailand.

Read's daughter Kahsharn Read pleaded guilty on Tuesday morning to eight counts of importing a Class C drug and one count of importing a Class B drug.

Another man connected with the case, Sivakumar Thuraichamy, was discharged.

Gary Read's brother, Brian Read, who faces 15 charges of importing pseudoephredrine and one charge of participating in an organised criminal group, is to go on trial on Tuesday afternoon.
