Two injured in Hamilton house fire

9:52 pm on 14 May 2013

Two women who escaped from a burning house in Hamilton on Tuesday morning are recovering in hospital.

One woman suffered burns and is being treated at Waikato Hospital's emergency department, but a spokesperson says she will be transferred to a ward.

The other suffered smoke inhalation and is going to be discharged.

Neighbours of the Montgomery Crescent property called emergency services about 5am on Monday saying they could hear screams inside the burning building.

Police say when they arrived the two occupants had made their way out of the house.

Police say a preliminary scene check suggests that the fire is not suspicious.
