All Black to attend anti-violence course

The All Black winger Julian Savea has been remanded for a month to attend an anti-violence course, as a result of which the police may withdraw an assault charge against him.

Savea, 22, is charged with assaulting his partner Dawn Rodgers last month.

He did not enter a plea when he appeared in the Wellington District Court on Wednesday.

His lawyer, Noel Sainsbury, told Judge Peter Hobbs that if his client completes the course he could be granted diversion.

The judge remanded Savea at large to reappear on 12 June.
