Some Auckland bus, rail ticket prices going up

Some Auckland bus and rail ticket prices for prepay card users are going up.

Auckland Transport says some concession-ticket prices for buses and Hop card fares will rise by up to 22c a trip.

The discount offered to tertiary students for trips on buses, trains, and ferries will also be reduced, by up to 40c a trip.

Cash prices for single trips on buses and trains remain unchanged.

Auckland Transport's public transport operations manager, Mark Lambert, says the changes are needed to align bus and train fares before the final rollout of the Hop card system before the end of the year.

The new fares take effect on Monday 3 June.
