Some people living close to Wellington airport are worried about years of construction noise if a runway extension is approved.
Wellingtron International Airport Ltd is considering a 300 metre extension north into Evans Bay at a projected cost of $300 million.
The Miramar-Maupuia Progressive Association said some residents are worried about the potential effects on a nearby marina, the years of construction and the related noise.
Chair Robin Boldarin said the cost is also an issue, as Wellington City Council plans to spend $1 million co-funding the resource consent application.
