ANZ sending call centre jobs to NZ

ANZ Bank is sending 70 jobs at its Melbourne call centre to New Zealand.

The bank is adding to its 175 staff who answer queries from Australian customers and said it expects to achieve the reduction in Melbourne through natural attrition, rather than redundancies, AAP reports.

ANZ spokesman Stephen Ries said the jobs will be based in Wellington and will be moved there in the next three months.

He said the bank has no specific plans for further expansion in New Zealand, but would consider moves to improve efficiency.

Mr Ries said Australia would remain as the main location for call centres that handle queries for domestic customers.
