A boy is in Middlemore Hospital after being attacked by a dog in South Auckland.
St John Ambulance was called to a property in Walters Road, Takanini, about 6.30pm on Monday.
The five-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is in a stable condition on Tuesday.
The Auckland Council says animal control officers were at the scene about 90 minutes after the incident and the dog is in a council shelter. It is unclear what will happen to the animal.
