Napier jolted by 4.2 quake

A strong earthquake has jolted Napier on Wednesday afternoon.

GNS Science says the 4.2-magnitude quake struck at 2.20pm. It was centred at a depth of 14km, about 20km east of Napier out to sea.

Witnesses say the quake was felt as a jolt that lasted just a couple of seconds. There have so far been no reports of damage.
