Cold snap to bring more snow

The MetService says bitterly cold Antarctic air will sweep the country on Wednesday with significant snowfalls.

The agency says the largest snowfalls are likely about inland Canterbury and Marlborough and may fall almost to sea level from Southland to Kaikoura by Thursday.

MetService manager Ramon Oosterkamp said temperatures are not likely to reach double figures in these areas.
