Carpet maker to close factory

4:37 pm on 18 June 2013

Carpet maket Cavalier Corporation is closing a factory in Auckland and relocating to another plant and there will be job losses.

It is consolidating its carpet tufting operations by relocating subsidiary Norman Ellison Carpets in Onehunga to its main tufting site in Papatoetoe.

The move will be completed by December this year and will mean some of the 62 staff will lose their jobs.

Cavalier has also warned that its profit would be at the lower end of forecasts this year due to subdued business conditions in Australia.
