New Children's Commissioner John Angus, says a perception that domestic violence is a predominantly Maori problem is incorrect.

Mr Angus says a report on deaths and serious injuries from assault, shows domestic violence occurs in many cultures, not just Maori.

He told Waatea News the report also shows that contributing factors which lead to violence in homes - which have little to do with ethnicity.
