Corrections Minister Judith Collins says a new management initiative will help to instil public confidence in the parole system.
Ms Collins launched the Prisoner Release Teams programme in Auckland on Friday.
The scheme, set up in April, enables Community Probation and Psychological Services staff to specialise in a range of parole sentences, including home detention and community work.
Ms Collins says the teams will also provide feedback for the Government about prisoners' release proposals and offenders' progress during a parole order.
She says the initiative is ultimately designed to ensure public safety.
