Air NZ loses appeal over landing fees

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Air New Zealand over the way Wellington Airport sets its landing charges.

Air New Zealand sought a judicial review of the airport's decision to raise landing charges by almost 3% a year for the next five years.

The company claimed the airport was trying to earn monopoly returns on the charges, and it did not consult in good faith before setting the fees.

But the Court of Appeal on Monday dismissed the appeal, saying Air New Zealand has failed to advance an arguable case.
