Two people have been arrested in relation to the killing of a New Zealander in Jamaica.

Tiki Hunia, 27, was shot to death in Kingston on 7 July. He was defending his wife from a gunman who took her mobile phone.

They were on a second honeymoon after renewing their marriage vows in Las Vegas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed two men have been detained, but not formally charged.

MFAT says Mr Hunia's family is being kept informed.
