The number of confirmed cases of swine flu in New Zealand is continuing to climb.

The Health Ministry says the number of confirmed cases now stands at 3021, up from 3000 on Wednesday.

However, the actual number of cases is likely to be significantly higher, as only a small proportion of people with symptoms are being tested.

The ministry says the number of deaths from the swine flu virus remains at 14.
