Silver Ferns win third test

The New Zealand netballers salvaged some pride from their series against the World Seven by winning the third game at Auckland 46-41, on Saturday.

The Silver Ferns had lost the first two matches, in Wellington and Rotorua .

The World Seven led 5-1 early in the first quarter before the Silver Ferns began putting together some smart attacking moves to lead 14-11 going into the second quarter

The Silver Ferns trailed by up to five points through the middle stages of the match, however, after England's Sonia Mkloma stiffened the world side's defence .

But with top performances by New Zealand captain Casey Williams on defence and Temepara George marshalling the midcourt, they shut out the world team in the fourth quarter.

Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken changed her lineup, giving Paula Griffin andf Maree Bowden their first starts of the series at goal attack and wing attack.
