Arrest made over attack on PM's electorate office

A man faces arson charges after fires at the Prime Minister's electorate office and at a rugby club in Auckland.

Police have detained a 31-year-old man and say he will face a charge of arson relating to John Key's office in Kumeu.

The man will face another charge of arson relating to a fire at the Helensville Rugby Club rooms.

The man is to appear in Waitakere District Court on Saturday.

The attack on Mr Key's office early on Thursday caused only minor damage.
